Coming into force

Coming into force refers to the date on which a legislation, or part of legislation, becomes a law or reglament.
Legislation may come into force on:
- A date specified by the legislation
- When it is offically promulgated by the head of state.
- In parliamentary systems, when it receives Royal Assent by the head of state, such as a Governor General or Queen.
- In presidential systems, when signed by the President.
- When it recieves the requisite majority of votes or ratifications, such as an amendment to the United States Constitution.
